Stress permeates throughout our lives.  It comes in all different forms, and if not managed, it may have a negative effect on your overall health.  Stress may cause muscle tension which in turn can lead to tension-type and migraine headaches. These headaches are associated with chronic muscle tension around the shoulders, neck, and head. Musculoskeletal pain in the low back and upper extremities has also been linked to stress, especially job stress.  This pain may decrease your ability to function properly during your daily routine leading to poor performance or even injury.

Chronic stress is detrimental to the heart and blood vessels which are important for transporting oxygen and nutrients throughout the body. The consistent and ongoing increase in heart rate, and the elevated levels of stress hormones accompanied by increased blood pressure, can take a toll on the body. This long-term stress increases the risk of hypertension, heart attack, or stroke.
